Lay faithful, to whom at least one of the following conditions apply, belong to the Ordinariate:

a) faithful that previously belonged to the Anglican Communion and are now in full communion with the Catholic Church and manifest, by writing, their will to belong to the Personal Ordinariate (cf. C. Ap. Anglicanorum coetibus, n. I §4 and n. IX);

b) Catholic faithful that are members of a family belonging to the Ordinariate and manifest, by writing, their will to also belong to the Ordinariate (cf. Complementary Norms, art. 5 §1) ;

c) Catholic faithful that have received the sacraments of initiation within the jurisdiction of the Ordinariate (cf. C. Ap. Anglicanorum coetibus, n. I §4). In May 2013, Pope Francis approved the addition of a new provision to the Complementary Norms (art. 5 §2), which allows for admission to the Ordinariate of baptized Catholic faithful who have not received the other sacraments of Christian initiation. This encourages in a more explicit way the task of evangelization within this ecclesiastical circumscription.

According to the Decrees of erection of the first three Personal Ordinariates, if a faithful pertaining to an Ordinariate moves permanently to a territory in which another Personal Ordinariate has been established, he or she may, by way of petition, be admitted into that other Ordinariate. If such is the case, the new Ordinary ought to inform the Personal Ordinariate of origin about the member’s admission. Faithful are free to leave the Ordinariate by informing one’s own Ordinary of the decision. By so doing, they automatically become members of the diocese in which they reside. The Ordinary ought to guarantee that the Diocesan bishop is duly informed (cf. Decrees of erection of the first three Ordinariates, art. 10).

Members of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life also belong to the Ordinariate when their institutions, having originally pertained to the Anglican Communion and now in full communion with the Catholic Church, manifest by writing their will to become part of the Ordinariate (cf. C. Ap. Anglicanorum coetibus, n. IX).
